With a New York attitude, this mural installation was in collaboration with local Non-Profit, Art-Empowerment and newly inspired, The Halal Wok, a Halal Chinese restaurant located close to the University of Cincinnati in Corryville on Short Vine. Designed by Wesley Ericson and Co-Led by La'De Richardson in the Fall of 2025. Featuring both a traditional Chinese and Arabic dragon, surrounded by common greetings in languages spoken around the globe highlighting the beautiful diversity within Cincinnati.
This work is part of Persepolis, a series by Wesley Ericson where he learns and mourns distinctions between sounds, what happens between events themselves, and what melts away like footprints in sand: How imagination, memory, expectation, and emotion alter understanding. He paints accepting uncertainty, allowing mundane occurrences to become vessels for temporary experiences that drop anchor in psychological territory. Forms avoid one another, withdraw, collide, mirror, and wait. The distances between forms become as important as the forms themselves: where are the points of contact, what is being reflected, and what remains unfixed?
In collaboration with 1001 Colors (formerly ArtWorks), Cincinnati’s nonprofit public art studio, Wesley Ericson was commissioned to support the mural studio on a commercial installation at TQL Stadium promoting the 2024–2025 Apple TV MLS Season Pass. The 10 × 20 ft mural was painted on Polytab and features FC Cincinnati players like Luciano “Lucho” Acosta and others beneath the campaign line “You’ve Never Seen Cincinnati Like This.”
