About the Artist

Sylvia Akamine Oramas is a Venezuelan-born artist based in Northern Kentucky. Growing up in Caracas with an abstract painter for a father, she developed her passion for art early on, assisting in her father's studio. After moving to the U.S., she honed her skills at the Cincinnati Art Academy, focusing on figure drawing, calligraphy, and Mixed media art design.

Sylvia’s work reflects her love for abstraction, mixed media and textile art and photography incorporating elements of nature, symbols, bilingual expressions, and found objects, all crafted from sustainable materials. Through her art, she conveys powerful messages of hope and possibility, inspired by her journey as a latina artist and art instructor.

Her painted figures serve as symbols of inspiration, reminding audiences that they deserve to embrace life's joys and all things are possible.
In recent years, I have developed a strong body of work and am now preparing new projects, including a textile art exhibition, a video installation, and sculptural pieces.
Ultimately, her goal as an artist is to connect with others—to inspire conversation, encourage reflection, and offer space for cultural expression. My practice is in constant evolution, and I am grateful to share that ongoing journey with you.
