About the Artist

Shaylee R. Hall is an oil painter from Newport, Kentucky. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Berea College in 2023. Through figurative and abstract oil paintings, Hall explores the psychological terrain of trauma, healing, and identity. Her work asks what remains after recovery: Who are we when we no longer define ourselves by our suffering, and how do we move forward into an unfamiliar sense of self?

Since graduating, Hall has exhibited throughout Louisville, Kentucky, including three exhibitions with Alchemy Collective and a staff exhibition at the Speed Art Museum. She views painting as both an act of personal inquiry and an invitation for collective reflection, believing that honest engagement with vulnerability can create space for connection and healing.

Hall approaches her practice with the mindset of both lifelong student and educator, embracing continual learning as an essential part of her work and life.
