About the Artist

Moyue Zhou is a conductor and educator from Shanghai, China. She currently serves as Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and Conducting Fellow with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, co-funder of SAMO contemporary music ensemble.

Zhou has served as Music Director of the Sound of Joy Chinese Community Choir, Guest Conductor of the Seven Hills Symphony, and as assistant and cover conductor for the Northwestern University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, Baroque Music Ensemble, Opera Theater, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Philharmonia and Concert Orchestra. In 2026, she was invited as guest conductor to collaborate with the Cincinnati Ballet Second Company (CB2). She has collaborated with renowned conductors Riccardo Muti, Patrick Furrer, Guido Rumstadt, William Langley, and Toby Purser.

In 2025, Zhou was selected as an active participant in the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy in Milan, working on Don Giovanni, and was named one of the 24 candidates for the Geneva International Conducting Competition. She is committed to using musical leadership to foster connection, cultural representation, and inclusive artistic experiences.
Zhou has conducted orchestral and operatic productions across the United States, Europe, and China. Her recent operatic work includes Ariadne auf Naxos (Chicago Summer Opera), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (CCM), Die Zauberflöte(Berlin Opera Academy), and Così fan tutte (Vienna Opera Academy). She previously assisted productions of Puccini’s La Bohème at Northwestern University.

Zhou received her training from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she is currently pursuing a Doctoral of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting. Her conducting mentors include Mark Gibson, Victor Yampolsky, and Yousheng Lin.
