About the Artist

I have been creating sculpture for public environments since 1976: throughout the States & in 26 countries: 24 throughout China alone. This has provided me with a uniquely broad experience of art & sculpture in many different cultural & architectural contexts. I received my MFA in 72 from California Inst. of the Arts and BFA from Dayton Art Institute. There are two of my commissioned % for art sculptures in Florida: POLARIS, now in the Mimai Library and VINCULUM AMORIS outside the South Regional Court in Hollywood.

A recent OAC % art project was for Clippinger Chemistry Lab, Ohio Univ., wherein they teach chemistry, physics, & geology. These subjects & the site were inspirational in the design of the sculpture: EIDOLON:NATURE. This attention to creating a sculpture that represents & embodies the various aspects of its context is seen throughout my sculpture.

One of my more notable commissions was with Expo 1988 in Brisbane, Australia, for which I built the 100 ft. hi. stainless steel PARADIGM, which included 66 computer-controlled airplane lights, representing the DNA structure, world tree & axis mundi. The mirror-polished stainless steel MORNING STAR II, installed at the site center, was commissioned at 15’dia. representing the pole star, the “still point of the turning world” & the “center”: now reinstalled in Brisbane Botanical Gardens.
