Donna Rose has been in and out of the Cincinnati music scene since 1980 and is proud to work with some of the most talented, most seasoned musicians in the area, from a mellow jazz trio to a full blues-rock band or somewhere in between.
People who have been around the Cincinnati area for a while may remember her as Donna Moxness, the keyboard player/singer with the original Warsaw Falcons, in 1982. After that she sang with different groups, usually with Moxie in the name, which was short for her last name. In 1991 she married her guitar player and changed her name to Donna Lawson. They played together in the jazzy bluesy Moxie Band for 28 years until he became seriously ill and she became his caregiver for six years until his passing in 2024. Now she uses her middle name Rose as her last name and is starting to make her way back to music, appearing recently at Brew River Creole Kitchen with various musicians.
Projects in the works include a jazz duo (vocal/piano), jazz trio (vocal/piano/saxophone), jazz quartet (vocal/piano/saxophone/drums), blues trio (vocal/piano/guitar), blues band with harmonica, and a 7-piece classic rock band.
