I am definitely a "self-taught" artist in residence at my home at Edelen Acres. I have taken some art classes over the years, but I do not consider myself a "professional".
About a year ago, I started making embroidery kits, but I didn’t like them. So, I invented my own stitches and started creating my own “needlework” instead. I began with drawings I created during COVID. Working on my needlework brings me joy. I love everything about the process.
a. Design. This was part of my drawing a day process during COVID. I designed the picture myself with colored pencils.
b. The Mock-up stage. This is stage two. This is where I make design changes and determine which floss colors work best with the denim background.
c. Denim. I work on my denim needlework on the couch with my husband. I have little decisions all along the process, but I don’t alter the overall design.
