April Combs Mann is a singer, storyteller, and teaching artist who leads gatherings that celebrate the joy of shared song. She has performed on stages internationally and guides community choirs and seasonal singing circles in Cincinnati, helping voices of all ages come together in harmony and well-being. With a love for folk and traditional music, April creates spaces where people can connect, uplift each other, and experience the simple magic of singing together in community with no pressure to perform.
April fronted her alt-rock band, toured internationally, and recorded several critically acclaimed albums. She performed a Peel Session at BBC Radio One, and played Lollapalooza. Her band Honneycombs had songs placed in hit TV shows, including HBO's True Blood. Over time, she shifted her focus to acoustic music and songwriting, traditional folk music and storytelling. April writes for children as well, creating April Eight Songs & Stories, her long-running beloved podcast for families. In 2024 she founding The Cinci Sing, creating regional community singing gatherings that prioritize accessibility and well-being.
Studies from Oxford University and others demonstrate that singing together creates instant social cohesion, even among strangers, acting faster than many other social activities.
Connection is what uplifts us in these trying times. Our coherence counteracts the chaos. Creating community, singing in community, connecting and creating something beautiful and joyful together matters.
