About the Artist
April Combs Mann is a storyteller, song leader, and seasoned teaching artist who blends songleading, traditional song and story as well as original song and story into imaginative, participatory arts experiences. Her work is grounded in oral tradition, emotional well-being, and the power of shared voice.
April fronted her alt-rock band Arson Garden, toured internationally, and recorded several critically acclaimed albums. She performed a Peel Session at BBC Radio One, and played Lollapalooza. Her band Honneycombs had songs placed in hit TV shows, including HBO's True Blood. Over time, she shifted her focus to acoustic music and songwriting, traditional folk music and storytelling. April writes for children as well, creating April Eight Songs & Stories, her long-running beloved podcast for families. In 2024 she founding The Cinci Sing, creating regional community singing gatherings that prioritize accessibility and well-being.
A former classroom teacher with years of experience developing curriculum and leading arts-integrated learning, April brings a strong pedagogical foundation to every program she designs. Her K-8 as well as college-level teaching experience, combined with her creative work as a writer and performer, allows her to meet learners of all ages with clarity, compassion, and joy.
