About the Artist

Amiya Chanel is a Memphis born, Cincinnati-based contemporary artist whose practice explores the intersection of abstraction, texture, fashion, streetwear, and everyday life. Working across mixed media, acrylic, textiles, and found materials, AC creates one-of-a-kind works that resist being confined to a single artistic category or style.

Her work is driven by experimentation—layering unexpected materials, colors, patterns, and textures to create pieces that feel both visually expressive and deeply personal. Denim, fabric, paint, and other materials become tools for translating experiences, emotions, and inspirations into physical form. Her approach to art is intentionally fluid, allowing each piece to develop its own identity rather than following a predetermined aesthetic.

15 × 30
mixed-media work created using acrylic paint and spray paint. The piece explores the relationship between structure and spontaneity through a composition of bold geometric forms, contrasting colors, and layered textures. Clean lines and defined shapes create a sense of order, while the distressed spray-paint elements introduce movement and unpredictability.

Built from layers of denim, hand-dyed textiles, and raw texture, this one-of-one explores the beauty of transformation.

Deep indigos and charcoal tones create the foundation, while vibrant blues, burnt oranges, and golden yellows emerge throughout the piece—bringing movement, contrast, and light to every layer.

Every fabric carries a past. Together, they become something entirely new.

Built from reclaimed denim and layered with acrylic, this piece explores texture, rhythm, and the beauty of materials given a second life. Every frayed edge, stitch, and brushstroke remains intentional—allowing the process to be just as visible as the final work.
